Start with your appraisal arrangements
Before paying privately, ask your designated body or employer whether it arranges your appraisal and what costs, if any, you need to cover. A private appraisal fee should be assessed in the context of the service you need.
Compare the complete service
Ask for a written price and check whether it covers portfolio review, the appraisal conversation, the report and agreed follow-up. Clarify whether software, feedback tools, extra appointments or REV12 support cost more. Compare like-for-like services rather than the headline price alone.
Medical Appraisal Hub pricing
Medical Appraisal Hub currently lists a standard appraisal at £349, including one month of appraisal software. Urgent same-day appraisal is listed at £449, subject to eligibility and availability. REV12-only form-completion support is listed at £99. These are this service’s prices, rather than a UK-wide benchmark.
Check the [request an appraisal page](/request-appraisal) for current pricing, inclusions and booking terms.
Questions to ask before booking
Who will carry out the appraisal? What is included in the fee? Which portfolio platform will be used? What happens if more preparation is needed? Is REV12 included if you need it? What are the cancellation and rescheduling terms?
Cost and revalidation
An appraisal fee pays for the appraisal service. It does not itself create a designated-body connection or guarantee a revalidation outcome. Understand your connection and GMC requirements before choosing a service.
